Arrow the Duck.
Arrow the duck and her 8 ducklings were rescued from the Porirua Landfill on 22nd September 2010. Arrow had an arrow through her neck when spotted by a member of the public who contacted myself and the Wellington SPCA about her.
The Transpacific landfill staff assisted the SPCA and I to locate Arrow and her ducklings the following day. Arrow had her arrow successfully removed by vet Awilda at Petone Vet Hospital the day after we rescued her. Go to "Photos" page for images of Arrow pre-surgery and her x-ray images. The arrow was lodged between her spine and trachea (wind-pipe). Arrow successfully raised her brood and then flew away. View the news items on the two links below.
